Sweet and Sour Sauce (3 servings)

Ingredients

Kitchen Tools

Recipe

  1. Separate the juice from the pinapples using a strainer over the cup. Leaving the pineapples in the can and the juice in the cup.
  2. Add the cornstarch to the cup and use the spoon to mix with the juice until well... mixed.
  3. Add the vinegar, soy sauce and ketchup to the pot and put it on low heat. Mix the ingredients with the wooden spoon for around 1 minute. (The ketchup will not mix fully and that's ok)
  4. Add the juice to the pot and mix every now and then until the mixture is boiling and the sauce looks more caramelized, instead of white from the conrstarch.
  5. Stop the heat and serve.

Aditional Tips!

As this sauce only requires you to mix it every now and then, you can use some of that time to wash the strainer and cup. You can also use the spoon later to eat your dish instead of washing it!

Backstory

This is my favorite recipe ever. I think I ate this for the first time when I was like 3 or 4 years old at a local chinese restaurant. The original recipe is called "Pollo PiƱa" which translates to "Pinapple Chicken", I took the chicken away to make it vegan and more flexible to be used with many other recipes.

When I moved out of my parent's house and finally had a kitchen where I was allowed to cook I made it a goal to figure out this recipe. I found one online and tuned it until I got that nostalgic flavor I was looking for. Enjoy

Also yeah, I'm putting my life story AFTER the recipe because that is how all recipe sites should be.
